Hi FCP Fam,

Can anyone help me with the issue I am having with air condition noise in my video. I tried to reduce the noise using final cut pro X built in tools but no success. Does anyone have a recommendation to stop the problem?

Thanks Fam

I would suggest bringing the audio into Soundtrack Pro and experiment with some of the noise reduction filters. You can have STP sample and try to auto-correct the problem, but I have found this usually needs to be manually adjusted. This may offer more flexibility than trying to fix it directly in FCPX, although there are some good tools there also.

Thanks but can I simply send the audio to soundtrack pro similar to roundtripping in final cut pro 7? I really want to maintain the sequence in which the clips are being utilized.

Open a copy of original clip from Event folder into STP, save as "[original name]v2", import into FCPX, do a replace edit.

In audio enhancements, I assume you tried noise reduce. What happened? Adjacent to that is the icon for the EQ. You can switch it to 31 band, which should give you the control to notch out the aircon. Unless there's a rattling fan that should be able to do it quite easily.
