I am looking to get a setup (camera, computer, etc) so that i can record a two minute video (HD) , Capture it into my machine, trim the beginning and end, and then export the video to DVD in under 15 minutes. I am looking to use FCPX for this endeavor. Any ideas?

You want to import live, top and tail, and burn a DVD in 15 minutes. It can't be done in FCP. It'll probably take at least that long to burn the disc.

Yes, an unusual request to say the least. Out of curiosity, what exactly are you doing and why is the 15 minute timeframe critical?

We are basically filming an ammusment park ride and we are shooting a two minute clip of each ride and then trying to sell the the video of them back to the rider. We are currently doing this however it is not hd and we are looking to upgrade. Right now we are able to show a preview of the clip to the rider as they are getting off the ride and if they would like to purchase the footage, they just have to wait 5 mins for the DVD to burn.

Get Toast 11 Pro.

You may want to simply use QuickTime X player to trip the clip, then have Toast 11 Pro create/burn the Blu-Ray DVD. Be sure it's a Firewire DVD. I think that's about as fast as you're going to get.

I just asked someone who is an industry authority and he mentioned using a set-top DVD recorder. They're the fastest once you get the clip trimmed. There's no editorial control with them, it's just something that burns the video real time as it plays.

If you could set up a live feed, the set-top recorder could even record real time as it's happening, but again, very limited to no editorial control. But you'd have a product in a matter of a couple of minutes.
