All,
We have heard that Matrox have beta drivers ready for FCPX today. Anybody got a link? No show in the downloads section of the website.
We are at BVE tomorrow so we will ask.

Still waiting for a link. I would love to get my MXO2 up and running with FCPX.

Spoke to Matrox UK yesterday, saw the drivers up and running and it looked really cool. They said keep an eye on the forum, thats where they would post them, said it may be another week. Spoke of some issues that require an "off and on" again solution!

Yep got it, and bess a fair it of off'n on a gaining!!!
And that fab thing of my monitor not playing 1080p footage!
Saving up for a 1:1 pixel mapped monitor as we spread. I think the sluggish performance of my fcpx is my test system and it being stretched for 1080p play back. Here's hoping the next gen macro's, if the turn up, will solve that.

A quick report. I installed on my mac pro. Ran great on rendered footage at high quality with 1080p 23.98 timeline. Played maybe 2 frames per sec on a unrendered timeline with that. I switched to Proxy. On both unrendered and rendered timelines it played back pretty smoothly. I will say the picture quality looked great. It also updated while I did color correction. Overall a great start.
Downsides. It kills hardware scaling for Matrox Max. It will video out for AE, FCP7, Motion 4, basically everything else. You have to quit Final Cut Pro X If you want to change media frame sizes. I moved from one project that was in 1080p to another one that was in 720p, I have to quick FCPX then change in System Prefs then Open FCPX too. Also Audio out from my Matrox MXO2 was really distorted (I was not clipping) It had odd Pops and crackling noise from it (only audio from FCPX) I could play iTunes through the Matrox and did not have any of those issues. No Analog Capture or output with Beta Drivers (Vestra Playback and Capture are not included)
So end of my story. I have uninstalled it for FCPX, mainly because I need my Max to do hardware scaling for web previews, and I also need to capture analog sources for a current client. So I am back at the 2.4 drivers
I will be demoing Broadcast monitoring with my Matrox at the IndyFCPUG meeting next week. If they film it I will post so people can see it in use.

Thanks for that update. I was considering buying a Matrox Max version but I think I'll wait a bit.

Well the max works with the beta drivers. But hardware scaling does not. Max is totally worth it. I use it for Bluray encodes and web screeners all the time.

Well, a key reason I would need it is for analog capture, and I guess the beta drivers don't support the Matrox capture program according to your post, correct?

That is correct, but if you need analog capture it's a great box. I am currently capturing analog with the 2.4 drivers and using it with compressor 4 with these drivers. Just no video in FCPX, but I do have video out in fcp7, motion 4, color and after effects. So I will wait until the 3.01 drivers become a bit more robust. If you need it, no need to wait just no FCPX monitoring (yet) if you want all the bells and whistles .
