FCP X: Obscure 10.0.3 was created by alex4D
While trying out the new version of Final Cut Pro X, I found a few obscure features:
- You can now group events 'By Camera Angle' and 'By Camera Name'.
- There are new standard shortcut keys for viewing Red, Green, Blue and Alpha channels: Shift-option-space, 2, 3 and 4.
- To cut and switch multicam video only in #fcpx 10.0.3, Press shift-option-2 before using keyboard shortcuts to switch angles.
- The Letterbox effect (in the Stylize section) has been updated you can now control the vertical offset of clip, border colour and size.
- There's a new keyboard shortcut o start or stop voiceover recording: Option-Shift-Command-R
- There are two new simple titles in the title generators section. You can connect them to the primary storyline using new keyboard shortcuts: 'asic Lower Third': Shift-Control-T and 'Add Basic Title': Control-T.

Great thread to have started!
- Scopes now remember the last one you were viewing.
- We can create Smart Collections by Clip Type (Compounds, Multicams, etc).
- We can now do Browser searches for text in tag and keyword note fields.
- Scopes now have brightness control.
- Roll edits can now totally eliminate a clip if rolled over totally.
- Color corrections can now be dragged to change their order.
- Clip Skimming as opposed to full Timeline skimming.

- When dragging animation curve keyframe values, use Command key for greater precision
- To adjust all keyframes on an animation curve, command-option drag a keyframe or the curve up or down
- New command: 'View > Clip Skimming' skims timeline clips, not event clips (when you've turned skimming off)
- For more fine (10x slower) parameter control in the Inspector option-drag up or down the numeric value
- For more coarse (10x faster) parameter control in the Inspector shift-drag up or down the numeric value
For those with colour correction surfaces that can simulate keyboard presses, there are three colour correction commands you can now assign keyboard shortuts to:
- Select next/previous colour correction
- Switch between inside and outside colour correction mask
- To adjust all keyframes on an animation curve, command-option drag a keyframe or the curve up or down

How are you getting this to work? This and the loop playback behaviour after making an edit were the first thing I checked on 10.0.3, neither worked.
I just tried again to see if I missed something, still no. Have I missed something somewhere?

Sometimes it works for me, sometimes it doesn't, but technically it's supposed to remove a clip totally, rather than leave a single frame.
Loop playback hasn't change, it gets switched off the moment you do an edit on the fly, as it always has.

Thanks for looking. I know the loop playback has always worked like that, hopefully one day it will change.
I was thinking about the roll edit issue since posting and tested different settings and different footage. I can't get overwriting a clip to work ever, if anyone notices it working and can see if there's any common factor I'd love to hear.

I've just tried it a few times, haven't had any problems - D overwrites the currently selected clip onto the primary storyline.
I assume Q to connect, select clip and Command-Option down arrow works as an alternative...

Sorry Alex, a bit of a misunderstanding here.
That's not where the issue is. If you already have your shots on a storyline and roll an edit point to meet up with the next edit point the issue is with it stopping with a single frame left and refusing to overwrite the clip between.
Thanks for looking.

For a limited time Edgar Rothermich has made one of his
Final Cut Pro X visual manuals
available for free:
Final Cut Pro X - 10.0.3 New Features
It covers nearly all the obscure features we've mentioned in this thread (although it looks like he's saving details on the new Keyer features for a future document).
There's also practical sections on the new automatic backup system, and much more...

There is no "new" Keyer features, it's the same features the keyer has always had. Apple just has published all the controls from Motion. I actually added some of the advanced controls myself pre-10.0.3, but I'm glad to see Apple included them all this time by default.
The "Backups" folder is very simple. When you touch and Event or Project it's database backup is updated every 15 minutes. FCP X uses it if it finds one corrupted. The easiest way to manually force it to become your Current Event or Project database is to move the backups copy as is into the location of the original, delete the existing original, launch FCP X. It may report it can't read the backup file, but it will actually have re-created an original from the backup before that warning. But it's not actually meant to be physically touched by an end user.
