Color correction with key frames? use motion? was created by randychesbro
Since, as far as i know, there is no key framing for color in FCPx. Could you maybe set up something in Motion and publish it in FCPx to give you that feature?
just wondering. I have moving pictures i sometimes like to fade to BW and would like to do it with out making a duplicate moving Picture and fading them.
thanks.

There are effects to do things like that. There are third party add-ons that allow keyframing of coloring. But yes, it gripes me to no end that we can't keyframe color correction. Thus, I go out to Color, or soon I will simply be doing all my color work in Resolve Lite.
Motion has very limited color correction, but you can rig up something and publish it. That is an alternative.

Hmmm I guess that's why I couldn't find anything about it in the users manual, it doesn't exist. I've only been using X for a couple weeks now, and for the most part I really like it, I like it a lot! But, it looks like I've found the 2nd thing I don't like about FCPX, the first was that I can't paste specific clip attributes, it's either all or nothing! These certainly aren't deal breakers as I was mainly awaiting multicam before I took the plunge, so I'm not complaining. I'm sure they will add these features within the next update or two .... won't they?

Apple has publicly said they have a ten year development plan for FCP X, so yes, we're going to see tons of stuff added, updated, improved, etc. Remember, we've gotten a ton of stuff in only six months.
Also, for serious color work, DaVinci Resolve LITE is free, and very, very powerful, and does FCPXML nicely.

You have to paste them all, then turn off what you don't want. Would be nice to have the old way of working back...FCPX, the first was that I can't paste specific clip attributes, it's either all or nothing!

I guess the only way around this if you don't want to use Motion or Resolve is to add a colour correction then blade the clip, change the other half and then dissolve between the two.
Quick and dirty.
