Final Cut workflow with other programs?

Hey whats up guys, we've recently discovered this forum and have found really helpful information so we figured we would register and join the community. We are a full production company in the music industry and video production is a new service we offer. About 4 months deep into Filming/Directed/Video Editing but we are well on our way to good progression I just had a few questions regarding how you guys work when it comes down to the editing & third party programs.

How much work do you do in final cut before exporting to third party programs? Do you guys individually export clips you would like to edit when it comes to Adobe After Effects or do you export the entire video when finished in final cut and then import into AE? How much work do you do before applying the color correction or letterbox (if used) and what would be most ideal for first approach. Im really interested in how everyone uses Final Cut and AE/Motion/Looks on a frequent and efficient/effective way.
