Hello,

I would like to ask for a help with editing 360° footage.

I am looking for solution how to increase field of view.
The problem is when I import 360° footage into FCPX it shows only 90° of view and I would like to increase it to 120°. The slider that is in the left top corner of viewer doesnt help, bcs when I export the project the FOV is still default. Do you know a way how can I change the FOV?

When I open the files in GoPro Player, I can zoom in/out, but I cant do that in FCPX.

Thanks

Is it your goal to output 360 equirectangular video for a VR headset, or are you using the 360 footage in a flat (reframe) project?

If the latter, you'll get keyframable controls in the Reorient section of the inspector (per clip). Check that your timeline settings aren't 360, and that your clips are recognized as 360.

For equirectangular output, I don't know of any way to change the default FOV as that would seem to be a player / playback preference.

Hello,

I am trying to create 360° video for youtube, where the viewer can move with the image, so equirectangular.

I found out that if its 360° project there is "Tilt, Pan, Roll" option only in "Reorient" section.
When in flat, the section is named "Orientation", and there are more options and one of them FOV.

From your last sentence I guess there is no way then to change the FOV in equirectangular, I dont understand why, because I can keyframe the position of view but not the zoom in/out (or FOV) .....

That is my understanding.

For repositioning the view, you're simply sliding the big, flat image around to change what Center is (which is encoded in your output file as actual pixels). Can't do that with FOV.

You'd need player-readable metadata to specify FOV, because it's not a zoom function per se, but sort of acts like one visually.
