Concerning joint Audio angles

Hi!
I´m new here, so please tell me if I miss something in the "Subject" or anything else!
I'm using Final Cut Pro X 10.0.3 and I'm trying out the new Multicam editing.
My footage is from two cameras focused on on the interviewer and the interviewee.
However, both cameras have separate audio channels that I need to bring together. Each camera has one persons sound on it. The audio is mono and I have separated and panned the clips before making them into a multi clip.
Everything works great as far as editing the video between the two cameras in the Angle viewer but I can only have one Audio angle at once! I need to have both Audio-angles at the same time while editing the video. When I double-click the Multicam sequence, I can listen to both the audio-angles at the same time but I cannot edit the video in that view.
It's a bit hard to explain myself after working non-stop for 6 days but I hope I'm not lost in translation.
Thanks for any given help!
/Carl

Below the angle viewer to the right of the insert, append, etc. buttons there is a drop down which selects video only, audio only or all. Check that.

Setting an audio only edit and then editing the multiclip to the timeline results in the vision and other audio angles being added as well - i.e. it doesn't work. The only way that I have found to have all of the audio tracks available for mixing is to switch through them one at a time once the multiclip is in the timeline - and before you edit it - and export an AIFF of the whole clip. I've then imported these audio files and edited them back in to the timeline as connected clips starting at frame 1 of the multiclip. You can use the audio in the multiclip as one of the tracks so with 2 mikes you would only need to do this with one of them. Hopefully Apple will allow us to edit audio only from a multiclip in a future version.
You can edit sections out of your interview as long as you are careful to do all the tracks at once. I prefer to make a compound clip of the multiclip and new audio track(s), edit out the stuff I don't want and then break the items apart again to allow the vision edit.

Create a Compound Clip of the audio channels only. Use that as your audio clip I'm the multicam edit.

Yes, that's a good approach if cameras aren't starting and stopping but if each camera has a number of clips it's quite complex. Making the multiclip first allows you to export one correctly synced audio track per camera. It's all a matter of workflow really - thinking it through before you start is the key. I'd still like Apple to allow us to edit multiclip audio to the timeline like you can in FCP7.

That's going to be tough seeing as how X doesn't handle audio channel configuration like 7 does at all. But it'd be nice to have the Playhead sync between the Project timeline and the Angle Editor timeline.

Actually, what would be really cool is allowing us to break apart a multiclip so that all of the audios are available as connected clips ready to mix. We could then allocate roles to each and export to Pro Tools or Logic. That would make me very happy!

I ask because if you have...
1. Master audio source(s)
2. Video CAM1
3. Video CAM2
Now to take the audio only from CAM1 and CAM to to be mixed with your master audio, you would then have to take the video and audio to the storyline, break apart the video from audio, and use match audio to sync the audio sources together. Tehn create your Compound Clip from that.
The issue is that multicam only seems to work with clips in the Event Browser and not the Storyline.
And I can't find any way to take the Compound Clip from the Storyline to the Events Browser.
Is there a way to get Compound Clips form the Storyline to the Evens Browser?
If so then this workflow should work, as this was something that I was thinking of doing originally (using compound clip of audio as a master mix compound clip, which could be edited in the multiclip independently).
Thanks,
Michael

Ben how can you take that compound clip and add it to a multiclip.BenB wrote: Create a Compound Clip of the audio channels only. Use that as your audio clip I'm the multicam edit.

Create a new, empty Compound Clip in the Event Browser first, then drop your clips into it, break apart, delete video and unneeded audio channels.

And we all know we can manually go back and edit cuts between audio only clips, and do L & J cuts between clips in the multiclip Project timeline, right?

I think you can click the compound clip and then make it a keyword selection, call it "multicam clip", then add can A and B to the same keyword collection, and make a multicam clip with them. I'm not in front of my Mac right now so I can't confirm, but from memory I think you can make a storyline clip apart of the events from keywords.
