How do we tell FCPX to please stop creating a new untitled library *every time*?

Keen to know.
Have been putting up with it for years now and am a bit over it.
Research tells me it only happens when one resets prefs etc, but I don't reset my prefs after every use.  Yet FCPX creates this dratted untitled library every. Single. Time.  Whether or not I have my in-use SSD attached.

Running latest Monterey and FCPX 10.6.5

Just leave the Untitled library in the Movies folder. It only opens that library after settings reset or if it was the last opened library.

It often happens outside of these parameters but I'll see if there is a pattern that I can identify...

Nope. These are *not* the only times it does this.

FCPX has a mind of its own here. How do we stop this annoying behaviour? Or is this yet another bug that we just have to endure along with all the other bugs that never get fixed... (sorry but still very grumpy about 10.6.6 not addressing the randomisation of clip view settings in the browser).

Mine always starts with the last library used. If that's not available, say it's on a drive that's not mounted or not connected on the network, THEN it creates the dreaded Untitled one that you abhor. You can sidestep that nasty experience by control clicking directly on a specific library doing the Open With prompt or selecting it in the dock which'll show the last x# of libraries opened.

Ah.  Yep, ok, so what you describe does fit the bill.  It's actually not a glitch, then, but standard operating procedure.  How irritating... but thanks!

I keep a library on the internal drive that I always leave open, then it doesn't create a new one (you can even rename it)... It creates one if you open FCP and there's no open libraries. It just wants a library to start with.

Or hold the option key after launching FCP and it will present a dialog to choose the library you want.
