Color matching multi cam angles?

First off Im fairly new to FCPX, just decided to settle down with it after using FCP7 for almost 4 years now, I mainly do music video editing.

I have basic knowledge of FCPX, haven't edited a project in it (will be working on a music video this weekend so this will be the first) But I began messing with an old project to get my feet wet

I found the new multi cam functionality to be A HUGE time saver for music video editing as I can put all my performance scenes into it, sync them up automatically and switch them easily to the beat.

HOWEVER well messing with color matching on my multi clip I noticed that after I matched color, and went back to my arrow curser (A), the match disappeared! When I applied random effects to the angle, they stayed, but my color match kept disappearing, even after it rendered.

Anybody else experiencing this?

Also, is there anyway to collapse multi clips like we could in FCP7? I feel this would make the program lag less. I have a fairly powerful machine, 2.66ghz quad core, 16gb ram mac pro, circa 2009 but I feel FCPX runs a bit slow and laggy, maybe proxys would help? the footage is from a canon 5D

I've just tried this and the colour correction sticks fine. There is no equivalent of the collapse multiclips command - switching to proxies should speed things up a lot though.

"There is no equivalent of the collapse multi clips command"

Yes, I'm surprised I can't find that either. It's such an important function. The app is struggling as it is to keep up. Avoiding the added burden of running a multicam clip unnecessarily would be really useful.

Looks like I spoke to soon, must have been a bug as its working now.

Yes I feel collapsing multiclips is definatly essential

One feature id love to see implemented (excuse me for going off topic) is the ability to turn off the animated UI, I feel that is causing the program to run slower (I would definatly trade off this asthetic for better functionality)

What animated UI?

Not sure X handles a multi clip in a way that would "collapse".

The best thing to do is edit with optimized or proxie media, BR sure your graphics card is powerful enough, and drive speed is important. Set prefs to playback "better performance".

I just found out that closing the Angle Viewer is the equivalent of collapsing a multiclip. Playback improves immensely.

Performance improves because there's less processing for display, but this isn't the same as collapsing the multicam clip. The drives are still running all the clips simultaneously. Even with the Angle Viewer closer you can still switch angles in the timeline.

I'm not finding that to be totally the case when I analyze system resource usage during playback of multiclips in a Project timeline. It'd be nice to get some technical documentation, though. And closing the angle viewer does GREATLY improve performance.
