Relinking assets causes scaling issues in secondary storylines

I've recently had to revisit some old FCPx libraries from years ago to make some edits. I am running into issues with secondary storylines and the images/videos that are inside them.
When I open the library all my media is missing. (to be expected because I moved the entire library to an archive drive)
I relink all the assets and everything reconnects, but when I scrub through the video to sections that have secondary storylines, the scaling is way off. I have identified that it only seems to impact images/videos that are in secondary storylines. If the images/videos are inside a compound clip that is also inside a secondary storyline it doesn't effect the scaling.
Screenshot 1 is from the original video
Screenshot 2 is after relinking
I should also say I have noticed this for several years now, so it's not a new issue or anything. Previously it was only a project or 2 per year, so it wasn't a huge deal to just rescale and edit, but now that I'm doing this with a lot of libraries, I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this, and has any guidance.
