Trying to figure out what exactly is the value of the new Color Adjustments effect? Matching the iPad color settings or is there anything extra from the normal color controls im missing?

It seems like using HDR video, especially from iPhones, has been made "automatic" (as far as mapping the video levels to the Project color space).

(I'm waiting for a few days, at least, before updating myself, so I haven't tested this new functionality.)

It seems that some FxPlug-based plugins no longer work with Rosetta in FCP 10.6.6 (only applies to Apple M* Macs, not Intel)... m02 from MotionVFX being one. This seems to apply to any "older" non FxPlug 4 plugins.

An update tip...

You might want to consider selecting the FCP application in the /Applications folder, the right-click and choose "compress". This way you can keep the 10.6.5 version and try out 10.6.6 and have the option to "downgrade" later...

In 10.6.6 I'm finding all of my Favorite audio Effects now mute the audio when applied. You need to find a clip where the effect is already applied and re-save the Favorite Effect. Then it works as normal.

Color Finale 2 also sent out an email warning users to not update. Seeing as how I'm having basically no problems with the current fcp version (not even getting the scanning audio bug), and I already have Keyper I don't need to upgrade yet. Maybe I'll compress the old version as suggested and go through and see what works and what doesn't. MO2 and fx plug 3 not working anymore is a pity and I hope that when MO3 comes out there will be a sizable discount for people who purchased the entire M02 suite seeing as going forward it will be impossible to use. Luckily, I haven't needed to use it in quite some time for client work but still...

I've seen reports that many audio plugins in FCP have been changed, simplified/dumbed down/restricted in functionality compared with previous versions. This isn't a good sign.

Missing plugins include: Brightness, Fat EQ, Telephone, Mud Removal
Overly-simplified new versions include: Car Radio, etc.
"Broken" existing/new version of audio effects: Channel EQ, Limiter, Bass Enhancement

The only "sensible" reason (it isn't, all) for these changes may be to ensure feature-parity between the iPad and macOS versions of FCP. Perhaps, some plugins weren't working well enough on iPadOS. Good move, Apple, hamstringing macOS FCP users...

That's good. Apple making Final Cut Pro worse so that it works better with iPad. Apple really hates it's customers. Or they are just incredibly stupid.

I think I'll move back to 10.6.5 and never update.

P.S. - If I recall correctly, Apple removed a bunch of functionality from macOS Pages (and maybe Keynote and Numbers) when the first few iOS versions were released.

Indeed. If you look at Ripple Training's videos on the new FCP for iPad, and the simultaneously released video about Final Cut Pro 10.6.6, you can clearly see where the interest lies judging by the views alone. The Final Cut Pro (Mac) video has 10x the views as the FCP iPad video. Why cripple the one people care about to appease the version people don't?
