Time machine issues

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if there is a problem with Final Cut and the time machine application ? I sold an Imac yesterday and performed a time machine beforehand saved to an external hard drive. I was working on a project and just to make sure I made copies of it on two other external hds. I had a factory rest macbook which I installed the time machine on without a hitch but found that my project is missing 5 days worth of work. Also the version of my project on the externals were the same old version. I just don't understand why this happened. I went into the back up folder and found that the only back up files were from 5 days ago, all my recent work has disappeared.
This is the second time that I have lost work on final cut doing time machines it is very frustrating, does anyone know what might be going on, thanks in advance !

This is likely not a time machine issue at all. FCP creates auto backups independent of Time Machine, which only copies what it sees on the drives designated to back up.

If FCP stopped backing up then that would be the issue. An issue with the drive or FCP preferences might be the cause.
