Disable Ken Burns Crop "preview" mode? was created by MWoods
I'm haven't been able to find the answer this via search, so I'll ask here. My fellow editor is having troubles with the Ken Burns crop tool on her computer. The tool is behaving differently on her computer than it is on mine.
When she goes to adjust the start and end boxes in the effect, the view switches from displaying the full image, to displaying a preview of the image area framed by the box she is manipulating. This is disorienting, and makes the effect harder to set up imo.
On my machine I just see the full image when in Ken Burns Crop mode, and can adjust the start and end boxes without the disorienting "preview" behavior.
My memory is this was some setting that I turned off somewhere, but I can't find it or any reference to it. Can someone tell me how to toggle this Ken Burns cropping "preview" setting?
Thanks.

I don't think there is anything to turn off, my only guess is that she has not clicked on ken burns but on crop or trim. If I understood correctly.

Figured it out. This strange "preview" behavior appears only when you try to modify a Ken Burns Crop that has dissolves on it.
When you move the "Start" box on a Ken Burns Crop that has a dissolve at the begining, the playhead jumps to the middle of the dissolve and you see a partly dissolved preview of the frame of the pan under the playhead. When you move the "End" box of the crop, the playhead jumps to the last frame of the crop which is completely unhelpful because the "preview" of the dissolve is completely transparent at that point.
If there are no dissolves on the cropped clip it does not do this behavior and the Ken Burns Crop tool functions without these unhelpful preview zooms.
So our difference is workflow, I usually set up any Ken Burns pans when I drop in a still, before adding any dissolves. She liked to cut a show together then figure out pans later after adding any dissolves. Following her workflow, the Ken Burns tool becomes really unhelpful on those dissolve instances.
I had wondered why she hated the tool so much. This feels like a bug. Can anyone else replicate this behavior?
