Inserting a gap inside a storyline is not always working as expected 17 Mar 2023 15:47 #124624

Hi friends, I find always difficult to create a gap inside storylines, specially with audio files. I understand that I need to have the storyline selected, but even with the playhead in the position where I need the gap to be created, fcpx usually creates the gap on a previous cut. Then, if I do cmd+z to undo the gap, the timeline goes to the beginning of my project, which is really annoying.
Any tip appreciated. Many thanks Pablo Pablo Betancourt

Try selecting, not the storyline, but the shelf at the top to insert the gap at the playhead or skimmer.

Hi Tom, always a pleasure to have you assiting us.
I'm not sure what you mean by shelf, but i've tried to select or stay over almost every container I have, with no luck. Do you mind sharing a screen capture or that shelf selected? Many thanks Pablo Betancourt

It looks like you have the secondary storyline selected by the shelf since that creates the yellow outline. Does it do this in a brand new library?
You might try resetting FCP preferences. Hold option and command while launching FCP and choose Delete Preferences. It will open the default Untitled library. Re-open the library you were working on, set the preferences back to the way you like them (disable background rendering, reset Import to Leave Files in Place, etc.) and see if the issue has been resolved. |
