If you want to select the whole line, The Future of Eye Health, triple click the text in the Viewer.

Under Titles there is a text effect called Highlight. I want to use on The Future of Eye Health. It's not working properly. I get the effect briefly on the first word then nothing. Well aware of how to select a line of text.

Highlight is a title. I can't reproduce the problem with the title using the default settings with build out checked off. You might try rebooting and trashing your preferences.

Trashing the preferences opens the application to its default state with the Untitled library. Your library probably had a name. If you were working in Untitled library, expand the library Smart Collections and look in Projects.

If you didn't create a new library for your project, have a look in your home folder's Movies folder (Mac HD / Users / your name / Movies) - Final Cut creates a default 'Untitled' library in there.
If you could, post a shot of the generator's settings in the Inspector and we can go from there. |

The Highlight title only seem to work properly if the text is a single color.

Thanks! With those settings on my rig, the whole line fades in from the beginning by character, and it takes just under half a second for the whole thing to come on. The yellow highlight is barely noticeable.
With that said, I've got 2 questions: 1. You mentioned it isn't working properly - have you used it before? 2. How would you like the line to build on? |

Replace the title with a new copy. Type in the text. Change the color of all the text. Unless you've changed a parameter in the title it should work.

What I'm seeing is the fade up and glow are happening to each character simultaneously, so with a yellow highlight, it's barely noticeable.
EDIT: I saw your reply, and hadn't scrubbed down that far before - now I see it! |

Yeah, looks like all the controls are for the text animating on. With Build In unchecked, the highlight happens at about 1 second in. I think this is all by design, so a workaround might be in order.
Duplicate the text generator, and have one short instance that animates the letters onscreen, with the second instance doing no build in/out - just the glow. |
