Hi revJimBob, I'm not sure if it answer your question but at the bottom of this linked page it tells you where they are saved.

When you delete your preferences a compressed file with Video Diagnostics appears on your desktop. Inside the uncompressed folder are saved your workspaces. In FCP in the Workspace menu use open folder in Finder. That takes you to the location in the support document Herve quoted. Move your workspace files back into that folder to access them in FCP.

Thanks, Herve, I had found that folder already but didn't know how to use anything in it. Appreciate your help. And thank you once again, Tom! You are always very helpful. I had noticed a compressed file labeled Video Diagnostics but never opened it. You have solved a very annoying problem for me!

You could also use Digital Rebellion's free Preference Manager, although I've never tested to see if it also saves workspaces.

Yes, Preference Manager will backup workspaces:
The current version saves all of the settings shown above but allows you to select which to restore (as seen in the image)...

@Terry B - Thanks for stirring my memory. I have Digital Rebellion on my system but totally forgot about using it. @DaveM - Thanks for confirming that it works. I really appreciate the help that is available on this great forum!
