Best Way to Get Multiple (3) Projects Out of One Event? Beginner Type Question

I use FCP at beginner level. I've principally used it to edit single clips. I start a new event, and a new project and import a video into the project. I usually edit it, trim etc and export.

Today for the first time, I have a long video I took, 1 hour, and I would like to get multiple short videos out of it. There has to be a better way than I know how. I would trim all the video away to make one clip then start a new project add the original video and trim away to next clip I need, and so on.

I am hoping there is a way to have one event and then be able make 3 clips (projects) out of the same video.

I hope the way I am explaining this makes sense. It is hard to explain well when you have a low level of skill.

You could duplicate the original project as many times as you need, and then trim away the sections you don’t want for the shorter versions.
