Hi,
I have waited before  updating from Monterey to Ventura.
Are there any issues after these few months ?

Thanks,

Alain

This might depend on what apps you're using. I've been on Ventura for quite a while now, and I see no issues with FCP or Motion so far. I use Logic Pro but haven't spent too much time with it since the Ventura upgrade. Most FCP plugins seem to be working in Ventura, but if you have some really specific ones that are critical to your workflow, you should check the manufacturers site to see if they are Ventura compatible. The OS so far seems pretty stable to me on an iMac Pro Intel. Can't comment on Apple Silicon.

@Albo, I've got a Mac Studio on order so if you do update to Ventura I'd be curious to hear about your experience with FCP and Motion.

With Ventura it seems to take significantly longer to open folders with many items in them as it parses through the contents. Mac Studio Ultra here.

I think I will wait a bit more...and I will report on how in went when I do update.
I also have to check my plugins and other software.

@Redifer, where is your media stored? NAS? External drive?

It doesn't seem to matter, but usually external drive. Didn't do this pre-Ventura.

Installing 13.1 now. I'm currently on 13.0.1. We'll see if that fixes it.

Folder browsing is MUCH faster in Ventura 13.1 compared to 13.0.1. Back to previous OS speeds which wasn't an issue at all.

Found a new Ventura bug. I find that I am often getting a group of 4 notifications from LOGIN ITEMS. Clicking any of them brings you to the Login Items preference pain (yes pain, not pane). I have all notifications turned off because they are extremely annoying, but that doesn't stop these. There are a bunch of apps within Login Items under "Allow in the background" that I have disabled because I don't feel they always need to be running. If I launch any of the disabled apps, like Zoom, I get the group of 4 Login Items notifications. Or really any app that's in Login Items. Subsequent launches don't trigger it, at least not right away. However just going into the Login Items preference pain (ouch) will trigger the group of 4 Login Items notifications. Close out of that, navigate back to System Settings > General > Login Items and 4 more notifications. They don't disappear on their own because of course they don't. Reported it to Apple.

UPDATE: I'm not sure it's a bug, but rather a "feature".

I turned previews on just to see what the notifications where about and I got this (attached). There seems to be no way to disable this nonsense. There's no entry for Login Items in Notification Settings. Any suggestions?

That’s a system notification. I don’t think there is an option to switch them off.

There should be. This wasn't an issue in the previous OS. How does being constantly interrupted make an OS better? Looking online I'm not the only one seeing this issue.

Anyway I dug around in the launch agents folder(s) and just deleted the four that were causing problems. FORMAL TECHNOLOGY LTD was actually Color Finale. I don't use that anyway.

Thats actually quite a strong privacy and security feature. It makes you aware that something you may or may not have done has enabled software to automatically load and run in the background, previously without your knowledge, now it's making you aware. This is overwhelmingly a positive thing in giving users knowledge of what software is running on their systems, however I can understand that you don't see it as such :-)

I agree with your assessment, I'd just like to be able to turn the stuff off. I can choose to not use a passcode for my iPhone, for example, so I should be able to choose to not have any notifications. I might like it more if the OS gave you the means to deal with it. You are unable to deal with it in the Login Items Preference Pane. You'll keep getting the notifications again and again regardless of the settings.
