Hi, new member here,
I'm a FCPX newbie and apologize if this has been covered already.
I just installed Motion and am pretty confused. I have an existing Final Cut project and want to enhance (scale, movement, color saturation, etc) using key frames on a clip in that project.
I don't see how to apply those effects to the clip using Motion while in Final Cut. Do I have to export the clip to Motion somehow?
If so, it seems I won't be able see how the clip works in the Final Cut project as I go. I'm sure I'm missing something very basic. I'm on OS 12.6, Final Cut 10.6.4, Motion 5.6.2 Thanks in advance!

Everything you mentioned is possible in FCP. You should access the FCP User Guide via the Help menu in FCP and read through the applicable sections.
Basically, you select your clip, position the playhead, and apply various settings using the Viewer and Inspector menus. Effects, transitions, etc., are available via their menus.
Additionally, you would be well served by watching some training videos and following along, where possible. RippleTraining.com has some good quality tutorials, many of which come with practice media. Ripple Training also has some good videos on their YouTube channel, including recent "one-hour" introductions to FCP, Color Correcting in FCP, and Motion. Lots of other videos out there, as well...

Thanks for the prompt reply Dave.
It all started when I was trying to customize keyframe curves for color correction and scale/position in the FCP Video Animation window for a still image.
There didn't seem to be a way to expand the Color Board and Transform lanes as there was in the Compositing/Opacity lane.
I'm new so certainly could be missing something very basic.
If I have to export to Motion I can't see how the clip in question relates to the adjacent clips in real time.

If you want export FCPX timeline project to motion you will need this app
fxfactory.com/info/xsendmotion/
I don’t know why Apple removed the option to export fcpx timeline projects to motion

Thanks for the reply Buhardilla,
I couldn't find much in the way of current reviews for Xsend and their site tutorials are 6 or so years old.
Do you feel this is still supported and worth the cost?
From the videos it seems a bit cumbersome but maybe when you're used to the process it becomes easier.

Wes Plate (Automatic Duck owner) developed some interesting apps for export projects from FCPX to After effects or/and Motion. You are right that since 6 years ago there are not news tutes about Xsend but the workflow hasn't changed and I can confirm you this app works in FCPX 10.6.4 and a MacStudio M1 chip.
Worth the cost? Well, this depend on your needs. In my case, I transfer videoclips to motion for use plugins as MO2, remove objects, tracking
However FCPX allows you to perform decent composition tasks and Color correction is much better in FCP than in Motion. As DaveM wrote have a look to tutorials and delve into FCP.
I leave it the link to a short video in which I worked in FCP and exported to Motion with Xsend for 3D composition
