Dynamicly move text lines was created by tigerdyr13
I am currently working on a title for FCPX in Motion 5. I have 5 text lines on top of each other and I want line number 1 to always be on top. But it needs to dynamically move to the bottom, when there is only 1 line filled out. Up second when there are 2 lines. Third when three ... and so on.
This is easily achievable in After Effects by expressions. But I simply can't figure out how to do this fairly simple calculation in Motion 5.
I have tried to link the first text layer's y-position to the next text layers height. But for this to work, I need to make several links adding each to the other. And this makes Motion beach ball wildly ... I guess it's not meant to be done that way. But How then?
Any ideas?

I am not sure what you want to achieve - this is standard text behavior.
Maybe you can post a screenshot?

Hi Andreas.
Thanks for your reply. I have made this little video trying to explain.

I see you've asked three questions here that I can tell you there are probably solutions for, but I can't give you explicit instructions (against company policy...blah blah blah.)
I am assuming that your texts are individual text objects each with a background rectangle. It doesn't look like you're replicating the rectangles to animate them or using Sequence Text to animate the text, then what you want to accomplish will rely heavily on your object "arrangements"
I can tell you that the size of a group is measurable - it's height and width. A regular 2D group always represents the bounding box of the content it contains.
Numbers objects are your friend. You can perform math with them (just not variable denominator divisions... unfortunately.)
If you have 5 lines of text, set each text object and its rectangle in their own group. Set all the text/rectangle groups to be contained in a parent group, like:
Group All
Group1
Text
Rectangle
Group2
Text
Rectangle
(etc...)
If you set the Opacity of the **bottom** group to 0, the Bounding box of Group All collapses to fit the remaining groups that are visible. Get it?
If you know the height of the group — how would you set up the math so that its height is offset from a reference point/base line? (kinda like an anchor point, but you don't have to use anchor points)
(Remember to use Numbers)
(Link behaviors handle replace source, add to source and multiply by source.)
I can't go any further... (sorry)
