Hi, I'm working on a video project that is 3840 × 2160. I would like to insert some photo's that are HEIF (HEIC) from an iPhone 13 Pro Max along with maintaining it's meta data for editing. My problem is the dimensions of 4032 × 3024. I would like to know the best way I could adjust the frame size of the HEIF photo's to match my project without stretching them and losing quality? I would sincerely appreciate your help. Thanks. Ray

From what you are saying your photos are bigger so it shouldn't be a problem to
downsize them.

There are three spatial conform settings for clips in a Project/timeline (in the video inspector). Fit is the default.

In your case Fit will resize the graphic to fit in the 3840 x 2160 frame without changing the aspect ratio (or distorting the image). Left and right of the image will be empty in the frame, however.

If you choose Fill, the frame will be full of the image, but some of the orginal image will be cropped on the top and the bottom.

If you choose None, the image will retain its original size and be centered in the frame. Some of all sides will be cropped. However, this choice may be desirable as you could move the image (mostly up and down, a little side to side) to "reframe" it. It depends on your needs.

A somewhat of a visual guide can be had by making the Viewer scale where the frame is smaller than the Viewer's space, then selecting the image clip and the transform mode (lower left of the Viewer pane). The bounding box of the image will be made visible.

The "Modify -> Smart Conform" command might also be helpful (though maybe not in your case).

Thank you DaveM for giving me all the different scenario's and link in accomplishing my situation! Lot's to chhose from and play around with. Re-framing is a nice alternative if needed. Biggest thing is I don't want any black bars and or distortion. Thanks again! Ray 👍😊
