Possible to track an effect with FCP tracker?

Possible to track an effect with FCP tracker? was created by Redifer
So I have a small blemish I want to remove from someone who's onscreen. A guassian blur set to 12 with a shape mask does an admirable job. I can track it by placing the guassian blur filter on an adjustment layer, but once I do the guassian blur stops working. Checked, unchecked, dialed all the way up or down, it's not there. Naturally the Coremelt Slice X Object Remover doesn't work any more because of course it doesn't.
Any tips?

You can't use Final Cut trackers to apply a location of a tracked point to an effect control.
A weird limitation.
The answer is to apply a mask to the effect and then make the mask follow the tracked point.

Yikes. Haven't used my Coremelt in a spell so that's disappointing but how about duplicating the clip, place above, gaussian upper clip, & mask out everything but the blemish? Being such a small percentage of the overall frame it should hide & track admirably.
Thing to remember here is YOU have superior knowledge as to where the blemish was and as such you're looking for and judging the effectiveness of your camouflage trick. A fresh viewer doesn't have that insight and will most likely miss it with all the other busyness going on in the frame.

That's so frustrating. I need to track the entire face for the head movements. After it's analyzed I select SHAPE and adjust the shape as I don't need the entire face blurred, just one little bit. But it only adjusts the shape for THAT FRAME. I'd be better off just doing it by hand frame by frame and not using the tracker.support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/final-cut-pro/ver02684fa6a/mac
The problem is that the head moves around so the mask would need to follow. But yeah I tried that.VTC wrote: how about duplicating the clip, place above, gaussian upper clip, & mask out everything but the blemish?

I managed to make it work. What I found that I needed to do was to drag a filter (pretty much any filter/effect) and let it track. Then delete the filter from the Inspector. Then add the Gaussian Blur by dragging it onto the viewer. Adjust the shape mask and position it where I want, Then select Tracker and chose the Object Track 1 from the drop down list. Then it works.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Until you shared your process for taking tracking information from one effect any applying it to another, I thought FCP's tracking capabilities were extremely limited. I needed to apply a cosmetic effect to an on-camera expert who needed help (with Sheffield Software's Super Glam. My bacon has been saved -- and now I can really use FCP tracking capability in a variety of ways.
