Frame rate help for a newbie 06 Aug 2022 17:20 #121709
Hey,
I'm editing a live music performance project which has 2 video clips and 1 audio file. One video file is 23.98 FR and the other is 25FR. The audio file is 24/48. When I drag the 23.98 video clip into a new project it converts the project to a frame rate of 23.98. The audio file syncs perfectly with this clip. But, the problem happens when I import the third clip of 25FR into the project. This clip is way too slow and doesn't sync with the audio or the 23.98 video clip. I've tried using the "Automatic Speed" function on the 25FR clip in the Retime menu with no luck. I've also tried making another project at 24FR to see if that would help, but no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks. |

Try converting the 25 FPS file to 23.98.

Use an application like Compressor. Select a ProRes codec to reduce any degradation, either ProRes 422 or HQ depending on the resolution. Set the export frame rate to 23.976 (23.98). You should be aware that the file will be large and will need a good SSD for playback, especially if it’s built into a multicam clip.

You could do it with that. It can’t do ProRes but you H.265 might be ok. You’ll have to create a custom preset I think.
