I just received a Sony FX3 and cant get audio to work in FCPX. Does anybody have a solution? There should be a possibility to convert with FFMPEG but I dont know if its possible to batch process those files. Or is there a newer version of FCPX that can read those files. I am still working on MACOS Catalina so I dont have the latest version.
Okay, if you use the import window, select the file and then play a preview there you will probably hear the sound. If so, then there is a preference setting that needs to be changed.
In the FCP preferences, go to the Import tab and turn of the "remove silent channels" option. You can probably leave this off permanently. It's a flaky option, as causes channels with enough silence in them to not import. This should fix your issue.
You should probably restart FCP after making the change, delete the clips and re-import them...
Still the same.. I am afraid renaming is not enough, the file should be rewrapped with ffmpeg, but I dont know if its possible to batch-rewrap a large amount of files.
Is there no way to update Quicktime? I have Version 10.5
It's not an application or OS problem. It works even in FCP 10.4.10. It's most likely a software conflict of some sort that's effecting the video components of the system with some Apple applications. You can probably import the files by rewrapping, but something else is likely to pop up unless you can find the source of the problem.
