FCP 10.0.3 Massive Crash was created by Curtis liquid9
So I updated yesterday to 10.0.3 running on the latest update of lion. About 3 hours after that I wasn't able to undo anymore, and then I tried to restart and my computer froze on the linen screen. Tried to restart again...nothing. Then reinstalled Lion and and still it didn't work. Then restored from the last backup and nothing. The only thing that worked was going back to the Time Machine Backup before I installed FCPX 10.0.3. Now it works fine.
I am Apple's biggest proponent, I believe in FCPX, but I just kinda feel like I am in an abusive relationship with them. When can I hit the ground running?
Mac Pro 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad Core Intel
Aja Kona 3 Card
ATI Radeon HD 5870
32 gigs of ram
Lion 10.7.2

Obviously something wrong here, but I don't think it is with 10.0.3 or Lion OS. I am using both with no major problems. It helped me to use compound clips more so than having a large amount of separate clips in a project, turning background render off and selecting playback for better performance rather than high quality. Using proxy media also helps reduce the resource drain on fcpx. You might consider whether your configuration is flat out set for best quality, performance, rendering, etc.
Also, for what it's worth, here is how I installed fcpx v 10.0.3 from the previous 10.0.2:
In the folowing order:
1: Deleted all my existing fcpx preference files from 10.0.2 with prefs manager.
2. Repaired permissions on my system drive and scratch media drive (both levels).
3. Installed the Lion update first.
4. Repaired permissions again (both levels).
5. Installed the 10.0.3 fcpx update (which in turn installed new preference files).
6. Ran the program and setup my preferences.
All seems to be good.

I have a Kona card and have to ask, did you update the Kona drivers to the 10.3 version? What version of the AJA Kona drivers are you on? There is an issue with it.
