Hello,

I have just come into trouble as I copied one title and pasted it elsewhere to modify it. To my surprise, after modifying the second (pasted) title, the first changed the same way ... I can't think of a way these titles could be linked and how could I unlink them?

As the title consists of a background video, than a logo (Apple ProRes4444), a title template and and an additional text, I enclosed all of this in a compound clip. What I did was a copy-paste of the compound clip and than changed the text and its parameters.

That’s the nature of a Compound Clip.
You have to create an independent instance of it.
Or just copy/paste the title itself.

"When you edit the contents of any compound clip, you are in fact editing the parent compound clip from the browser. Any changes you make to the compound clip are inherited by all of its child clips. For example, if you delete a title clip from the contents of a parent compound clip, the title clip is deleted from all child clips.
You can create an independent compound clip from an existing compound clip. For example, if you have a compound clip of a standard title sequence for a TV or podcast series, you can create unique (independent) instances of the compound clip for each episode without affecting other instances of the title sequence."

Yeah, that compound clip 'got ya' snagged me years ago primarily because of the way it's represented in the guide as parent clip and child clip which confused my pea brain to no end.

Simply put so I could follow it... Alter any compound clip and all other places it's used are similarly altered. You've carpet bombed the entire project with that one modification which is likely what you least wanted to do.

You need to select REFERENCE NEW PARENT CLIP. This breaks the link between the previous CC version 'A' and the NEW one 'B' you're now, today, modifying, thus leaving the earlier yesterday workings 'A' alone & unaltered.

CC A is identical throughout the project. Modify one A & you've modified them all.
Modify CC A as a NEW PARENT clip then it becomes CC B having nothing to with A any longer.

Thanks to all for helping! I was not aware about this before, as I didn't use compound clips so much.
