Missing fonts getting Helvetica'd - No way to know or find font name.

Maybe I'm missing something here but one of the biggest annoyances I've recently found using FCP that has become quite a time suck is the fact that when working on a project with remote editors (with Postlab). there is zero warning of any kind when a font in a title is missing.

Several times I've exported and sent to clients videos with titles with 'Helvetica'd' fonts. FCPX loves to through up mystery "!" triangles for other issues but (to my knowledge) gives you no indication whatsoever that a font is missing.

My issue today is my editor is on AL and I can't easily get in contact with her. The client has requested a few smaller title changes, and I can't do them as I'm missing the font and don't know its name so can't find it online.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Declan

The choice of typefaces used in a project should be managed just like source media, etc., documented and shared, as necessary.

You may find that "X-Library Check" helpful. It searches a FCP Library file and creates a report that includes fonts used or missing...

That worked DaveM. Thank you.

The data is clearly there, you'd think the FCPX team could make this problem go away pretty easily?

It would be great to have the font name and style somewhere. This would be helpful in case of a complete computer malfunction and the need to reinstall everything like I hadto do once. Including reloading fonts. Some were specific to a project in FCP. A big guessing game.

I've learned to either write down what fonts were used or have a folder where you FCP library and assets reside and add a Fonts folder and copy those to that folder. A pain, but easier than hunting around.
