Compressor crashing - help 10 May 2022 16:03 #120471
Hi everyone
I'm in need of a little help with compressor. I need to convert my film from Prores 422 to Prores 422 LT. Nothing fancy. As soon as compressor starts, it stops with an error: Failed. 3x HOST [name of computer] The operation could not be completed. The crazy thing? I can convert it to 422 HQ or 4444, no problem. Any idea? I'm on a M1 Pro. Thank you so much! Manu |

UPDATE
Adobe Media Composer crashing the same way. Codec compression error. This codec may be unable to support the requested frame size, or there may be a hardware or memory problem. Exporter returned bad result. I've never this anything like it.......... Any idea? |

If you can't export into ProRes 422 LT from within FCP, it may be that your ProRes codec installation is damaged/corrupted.
ProRes codecs (besides Raw) are installed with macOS now, and aren't part of the Pro Video Codecs package. The non-Raw ProRes codecs are installed here: /System/Library/Video/Plug-Ins/ With the new way macOS partitions the system files you can't modifiy anything under /System/ anymore. So, the solution may be to reinstall macOS via Recovery mode. |

Compressor crashing - help 10 May 2022 17:39 #120479
It's some kind of bug unique to Apple Silicon. In my case on either M1 Max or M1 Ultra, if exporting a UHD 4k/23.98 ProRes 422 file from either FCP 10.6.2 or Compressor 4.6.1 to 422 LT, it just fails. It's not a logged exception or app crash, it's some kind of abnormal exit of that task. It doesn't happen on every input file, generally just some ProRes 422 files. I'm trying to narrow it down. It does not seem to happen on Intel. MacOS: 12.3.1, Pro Video Formats: 2.2.3. |
