I zoom in on a piece of footage.
I compound that clip.
Then i zoom out on that compounded piece of footage.
I expect it to hold the "crop" I did on the footage inside the compound but instead it shows me the rest of the footage I wanted to toss. Any ideas?

While this isn't the helpful answer you're looking for, I will say this I've run into this problem myself and I don't know what the solution is. I'll be following to see if anyone here has come across a workaround!

I'd simply crop or mask the original instance of the clip, no compound necessary.
Sounds like you're trying to use the compound clip as a masking / cropping tool.
