FCP reads Poly Wave but not Logic Pro???

Hi all.

I've got a Poly Wave audio file that imports into FCP with the tracks named properly when I set up recording on Sound Devices 633. That works fine as you can see in my screen shot. However, in Logic Pro, none of my user (me) created track names show the proper way. Is there some setting I'm missing in Logic? Or maybe is this a Logic forum ? Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried bringing those into FCP, exporting an FCPXML, and then importing that FCPXML into Logic? If so, does that display the proper names?

Thanks Oliver. I was thinking about a work around like that, but quite the round trip. Its interesting that FCP video editor opens these the way I think they should yet the pro audio Logic does not. There must be something else that Im missing.

Remember that Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro are developed by different engineering teams with different target users. While there is compatibility and some shared elements (like FCPXML exchange and some common audio plug-ins) they are still quite a bit different.

I ran into a somewhat related though opposite situation this weekend for a film I'm working on. The re-recording mixer sent me a 5.1 mix as an interleaved .wav file. FCP would not import it. It also couldn't be opened in Sound Devices' Wave Agent. Yet, it was fine in both Logic and Resolve. I imported the .wav into Logic Pro and exported an FCPXML. This process rewrapped the 5.1 mix as a .caf file, which was perfectly fine in FCP. Go figure!

So I submitted feedback to Apple for this. The only problem is there was no way to upload the screen shots. On another Logic forum, a member called this a "bug" and mentioned it has inexplicably been like this for a long time.
