Do I need X2Pro in 2022? was created by pszilard
I am going through tutorials on using Logic Pro with FCP. They recommend getting X2Pro (which is AU$230), however the tutorials are quite old. With the latest versions of FCP and Logic, do I still need X2Pro or have these features been included with FCP and Logic?

Exactly what tutorial do you mean? ~If you refer to Logic/FCP Ripple training tutorials by Mary Plummer, are almost all done with old Logic versions. Last Logic v10.7 import very well FCP projects in xml 1.9
I'm X2Pro owner (my DAW is Nuendo) and I haven't noticed any differences between import xml or X2Pro files respect to synchronization in Logic. In addition, FCP xml files imported in Logic preserve their original channels (mono, stereo, 5.1,..) If you use X2Pro, the AAC transcoded file is imported as mono tracks (ala Protools ) and you have to reorganise them

Yes, I was viewing the Mary Plummer tutorial. I did buy Logic Pro, but I am seriously questioning whether I actually need it just for video production.I already have RX9 and Accusonis and a couple of Wave plugins and I saw how you can export a single role from FCP and then "polish" it in RX and then re-import - all without needing Logic!
Anyway, one never stops learning in this game...

I agree with you. If you learn the audio possibilities of FCP you probably don't need more

Steve at Ripple Training has an Audio Editing tutorial that might be helpful.

We use X2Pro because our audio sweetening is done in ProTools. One issue I just discovered (besides the no stereo tracks) is that X2Pro gets very confused by compound clips and does not create tracks per roles properly. Marquis Broadcast's said they will bring it up during the next internal discussion on development priorities.

Marquis is hitting walls with X2Pro . They are limitations
We NEED an AFF export from FcpX ASAP !!!!!
(taking care of frames rates, frame speed changes, Roles properly, etc )
Since when do we need it ASAP ? 10 years ago...
