FCP Timeline Zoom-In Shortcut - How-To?? was created by Zooskifilms
Hi - does anyone know if there is a way to create a shortcut to zoom-in to the timeline based on a time duration timeline width? For example, if I want to see a 6 second width in the timeline, I'd like to create a shortcut to jump there instead of hitting Command + repeatedly. Currently when I review my video I Zoom to Fit and play through the timeline. If I want to make an edit at the cursor point I'd like to stop playing and hit a shortcut key to jump to a specific zoom-in period to make my edit. I find myself typically using about a 6 second width but would be nice to set that in the shortcut (like a Shift-6 for a 6 second timeline width zoom-in). Thanks!

Not a shortcut key but quicker than repeated Command+ : press and hold the z key and stroke out the area in the timeline you want to zoom in to. Shift Z to zoom back out.

Thanks, that is better than the repeated Command + method!

actually holding "z" you can "lasso" the portion you need to zoom in.

You're very welcome. The other edit keys can be used this way too. For example, hold down 'b' and you're temporarily in blade mode until you release the key. Same with 't,' etc.
