The M1 Max Experience with FCP (So Far) | Audio Edition

The M1 Max is a fantastic beast. It *almost* quenches my thirst for a new Apple Silicon "iMac Pro."

But it's not quite fast enough. The biggest problem? Surprisingly, audio tracks!

I'm working a podcast project with 8 iso AIFF tracks compiled in a Multicam clip. I have my preset group of built-in FCP audio plugins to apply– stuff like Noise Gate, Linear Phase EQ, Compressor, and Limiter. There's one track I've applied a Crumblepop Echo AI plugin to.

I'm waiting a good 5 - 10 min for FCP to render these waveforms. I've attached the Activity monitor showing that the culprit is an Intel process called "AUHostingCompatibilityService (Final Cut Pro). It would seem that not everything has been ported over to Apple Silicon yet. And this devil-process is SLOOOOWWWW.

I hope another FCP update is near!
(This issue is, as far as I know, not related to the waveforms-not-loading-after-20-min-of-editing issue)

What makes you think they're different?

For this, the cpu is maxed, sometimes also the GPU. For the other waveforms problem, the system sits idle. It seemingly does nothing. No CPU, GPU, nor read/write activity.

That's not how it works on my system, but sure, ok.
