I am buying one of these audio recorders. The TASCAM DR10

I will be recording audio into it.

The camera will be recording at 24 or 25 fps for picture.

Provided I have the time line set to the same that the film is set to will the audio just sync?

I have had some issues in the past for example.

Speech pitch changes i.e. voice sounds different recorded at 25fps on a 24fps time line - speech drifting when using mixed clips say for example go pro and dslr.

Essentially then... record audio into the Tascam and it will sync with what ever you have on your camera right?

Well, mostly. Besides frame rate (which is not really an audio measurement, but some devices compensate for it), be sure the Tascam is recording at 48kHz sample rate.

Thanks mate - yes strange fear. I find actually sometimes recording on multi cams does require the dreaded non recording into the camera.
Complicated stuff. I guess I wll have to dig in and work round the problems if and when they arrive. I did note GP footage does drift but you can manually shift, so its not the end of the world.

Good to know my problem is largely made up in my head tho.

I run all of my mics directly into my cameras. Saves tons of time, avoids tons of headaches, and it's good quality.

If you are recording audio in 48khz as Ben mentioned, you should be fine. FCP does a really good job at syncing for you if you have a scratch track (internal audio) on the camera. Then in post you can simply turn off that track so you only have the audio from the TASCAM. If you have a clapper, you can easily sync the audio and vision by the 'clap'. Otherwise, plosives like P sounds are also an easy sync point to do it manually. If the tascam is going to be close by to the camera, you can always use the 'line out' from the Tascam and send that into your camera so your internal camera recording is good quality as well.
