SRT import into FCP might fail. Same with YouTube, Facebook etc.
The reason is (or can be) that the file contains formatting flags. It can be tedious to find and remove them.

Quite a long time ago I wrote a script applet for some customers which will do the job with the snap of a finger - but always forgot to 'notarize' that for Apple.
Yesterday I did and you'll find it here:

Or, if at some later date you can't locate the script file you downloaded, then:
1 - Open SRT as a text file.
2 - Search* <font color="#FFFFFF">. Find all. Delete.
3 - Search </font>. Find all. Delete.
*Or whatever the offending formatting flags are. They'll be obvious.

Thanks for the hint
Bad example I gave
It's not about this<font color="#FFFFFF">, There can be many flavours of hexcodes for colors ( around 16 mio), there are things like <font name="Myriad"> or <font size="24"> or combinations of all of these. Additionally there can be the style flags like <b>, </b> etc as well.
And yes you can do it in a text editor if you know about regex. The majority of video editors probably aren't very familiar with that.😀
And for a long movie with 1000 or 2000 entries not all flags are obvious, same is valid for text formatting - should be UTF8.
