Filmic Fade-in 24 Jan 2022 02:29 #118615

Is there a way in FCPX or a plugin to get a filmic fade-in as seen here?

Highlight the Dissolve in the timeline and open the inspector. You'll see a dropdown menu where you can choose what type of dissolve you want.

Thank you for the response.
I know them, but none of them gives you anything close to what you can see here.

Watch the example and compare it with the results you get with the standard fade in - or any 'type'.

It looks to me that the first dissolve in fades first the bright parts and then the rest.
I thought that is one of the options in the dissolve transition 'look' dropdown menu.
Don't have any similar material to play with so can't test.
If it's not a dissolve then it might be done via keying out the dark bits, fade in the result via opacity change and then the rest.
But maybe somebody else knows a third party that makes that effect ready to use for you?

did you download it and try with the same image ? you have enought after the fade in

do it, now you can talk with certainty

If you really want "more" you can combine with the "Threshold" filter in FCP
(Transition to the clip with a "high Threshold on, then "Compose it" and "normal Transition")

It actually looks more like a soft edged wipe than a fade.
