Used filter of browser not showing clips within compound clips

Hi All,
FCPX's strength is how it uses various metadata allowing quick searching within a project. Most of my projects contain a number of compound clips in its timeline. The browser has several standard search presets [ie. hide rejected, favorites, unused etc]. One preset, "Unused" seems to have an issue when it comes to compound clips. Anything within the compound clip is ignored and even though it is used in the timeline it does not register as used in the browsers sort criteria.
I have been using a workaround where I place all the clips within the compound clip at the bottom of the timeline and then I disable those clips so they don't show in the project itself [FCPX considers clips used whether disabled or not]. This is cumbersome and also leads to incorrect information if after updating a compound clip I don't remember to update the disabled clips underneath.
So I guess my first question is am I doing something wrong with compound clips or preferences etc. that includes clips within compound clips? If not, how are people handling this issue?
Thanks so much

A Compound Clip is a container, a clip unto itself, its contents are ignored, yes.
When set to show Unused media, you'll see Unused Compound Clips, no reference to what is inside. Just how FCP works, so naming the Compound smartly is important. Or select your Compounds inside that Project's timeline, and use the Break Apart command.

Thanks for the reply. You mentioned naming compound clips is important. could you give me a couple of examples of using naming to overcome this. Do you mean the name would have all the clips listed?

Let's start with why you are making Compound Clips that need the contents tracked?
