In the clips "list view" my canon & nikon footage shows as 'avc1" as Original Codecs – I presume this is H.264. Why the different nomenclature ?

avc1 is the codec ID for H.264. It's the way the manufacturer chooses to identify it. aprh is the codec ID for ProRes RAW. I just happened to see that.

Thanks for that Tom, I guessed as much. As a life long stills photographer I have just recently got into digital video, man this subject is complicated, so many new names, acronyms and standards to remember ;-)
