23.98p footage to 29.97i broadcast was created by Cooper5657
Help please. This is my first time making a broadcast ready, multitrack quicktime file in 1080i and 29.97i fps with drop frame timecode. What I have is 23.98p fps footage and stills. I set up my project for editing close to the final version, as 1080p and 29.97p fps with drop frame timecode. I've finished editing (with broadcast safe filter and metered audio tracks). Can I just copy and paste it into a new project set up as 1080i and 29.97i for the broadcast version?Does the default 'Floor' setting work to auto conform the 23.98p fps to the project's 29.97i fps for broadcast nicely? or do I need to do something else? I exported a short test, quicktime mov doing this (with one stereo track) and then looked at it in VLC and it looked pretty good with a few interlacing lines to be expected. Since it's not a tv monitor and is my inaugural broadcast file, I have no idea if that's good enough to submit for tv or if I need to do something else... I've read some editors using other software make the 23.98p into a 59.94i version before copy and pasting into 29.97i version to export, in order to get the least stutter for the broadcast encoders.Any guidance is greatly appreciated. (I have FCP X version 10.4.6) Thank you.

You can just open the project properties, Cmd-J, and modify the settings to 1080i
Copy/paste will work as well.
