Yes there is a MAJOR bug in 10.6 causing crashing when working with audio. Unlike another topics mentioning audio issues, it is not mp4 or an audio file format issue. Mostly 48Khz 16 bit PCM audio on a 56 min SD timeline. When clicking either on the clip or the inspectors "audio configuration" the beach ball begins. It is not every time, but often enough to get frustrated. Timeline is only an SD project 720x480. Mac Pro, Big Sur, lots of RAM and GPU as you can imagine on a $12k system. Se multiple reports to Apple. Hope they pay attention... Just reset preferences. opened FCP and the computer completely crashed down. Working again now see how it goes.

10.6 is very buggy. Update to 10.6.1.

10.6.1 is not available to me. Does it require Monterey?

No. Open the FCP page in the App Store. If you do not see Update, move 10.6 to the trash and redownload the application.

Pro Tip™
Software update can be refreshed to recheck for updates by hitting Cmd+r• (Big Sur and earlier) or by clicking "advanced" then clicking "OK"

doh...I'm thinking of the system software update....However, Cmd+r does work to refresh in the App Store too.

I had the thing where neither Software Update nor going to the App Store directly saw the update to 10.6.1. Search for Final Cut and the page will say 'Open' 'cos you already have it. Just leave the page open and wait a couple of minutes for the Apple servers to catch up and it may well change to 'Update'.
This was my experience.
