In Apple’s docs for HDR Tools it lists several possible modes, starting with "HDR to Rec.709 SDR". One of the other modes listed is, “HLG to Rec.709 SDR”. That is not available in my FCPX.

The clip currently selected in my Timeline is Rec.2020 HLG.
Can anyone explain why the mode is missing?

You're also missing PQ to Rec 709 SDR. What version of FCP and Mac OS are you running? If you recently installed the FCP update and did not trash your preferences before running it, try that. Launch while holding Option and Command and choose to delete preferences. This screenshot is from Monterey 12.01 and FCP 10.6.
