Hello
Does anyone know how to replicate this effect?
Is it possible in FCPX or Motion? Or is it an After Effects job?
Thanks

You should be able to achieve that by layering the videos on top of each other and then keyframing the crop of each to animate how much of each video is visible.
It's definitely tedious but it can be done in FCP with no need of special plugins.

Well, crop alone won't do that exactly. Here's a custom transition I did way back when that uses this effect. You can reverse engineer this.
