...Someone had to start this thread ;)

I cannot see the menu options (or any options for that matter) to enable Cinematic Mode on a clip.

Is there perhaps some mistake I am making in my workflow?

I have imported the same clip twice. The first via Airdop and the Download folder and the second importing from the phone via the Import Dialogue.

The Library is Wide Gamut HDR and the Project is Rec. 2020 HLG

I do not even have greyed out menu options. They are simply not there.

Is there something I might have missed?

Despite having been an Apple fanboy even in the Michael Spindler days, I am on my very first iPhone. As such Noobness cannot ruled out ;)

Select the clip in the timeline. Cinematic Mode should be available in the Video inspector if the media is shot in Cinematic.

It's not there :(

It's as if the feature isn't there at all. I assume I have the right version tracking is there.

Sorry. My mistake. Cinematic Mode requires macOS Monterey, which will be released tomorrow.

So, can I I safely start cutting? The Metadata is there? and I can play with focus later?

I would presume so. I haven't been able to get hold of any Cinematic video yet to try it.

I have Cinematic Clips. Some are working in FCP 10.6 And others can't be edited. Seems to be a bug. Even if they are marked as cinematic clips in the fotos app in FCP. Imported in a timeline I can't edit the cinematic mode.

I don't have any Cinematic Mode media to test, but my understanding is that any changes made by AI in camera are not editable, or are you saying that you can't add any focus points to some clips?

That‘s one of the features. You can edit the cinematic clips in FCPX an chose other focus points. For example I have a clip from a railway station. It‘s regularly focused at a train. Unfortunately people are crossing. The iPhone detected them and changed the focus point to them. That‘s I have fixed in FCPX.

Right. You can change the focal point of existing AI points, but I don’t think you can delete them or even move them.

Yes. It‘s a sort of overwriting.

I am having the same issue -- NOT seeing cinematic option in the inspector.  I've upgraded to Monterery, and am running FCPX 10.6.1.  Still nothing.  Clips sent via AirDrop do have a depth of field but n o way to control.  Thoughts?

AirDrop is tricky. When you share you have to use the Options button, or you will not get the sidecar file with the Cinematic information. Always best to import with the phone hardwired to the computer.

Good note on hitting options> and selecting "All Photos Data" before sending a Cinematic clip via Air Drop.  Though, I have read and have experienced when you send cinematic clips over hardwire USB-C -- it sends a flat version without depth of field.   If so, that makes Air Drop the only option for FCPX import of cinematic clips.

FYI -- even when I send clips via AirDrop with "All Photos Data" -- the cinematic control is nowhere to be found on FCPX inspector.   Both FCPX and iMac upgraded.  Not sure why I'm not seeing cinematic control.

Is the clip in the timeline? What do you see in the shortcut menu when you right-click the clip?

I have exactly the same problem. I have a iPhone 13 Pro Max and a Macbook Pro 16inch 2021. Hopefully it is a bug. The strange thing is that its random. Sometimes the cinematic data is transferred to my mac and I can edit it and the other time fcp doesn't recognise the footage as cinematic. Very strange.

Are you sure the shots are cinematic capable? Is there sufficient depth content in it to use the function?

Yes, the shots are clearly marked "cinematic" on my iPhone -- I when I choose "All Photo Data" -- and transfer via AirDrop, I have clips in my FCPX timeline that retain a significant depth of field look. And they each require the "HDR Tools" effect to counter being "blown out." But seeing a toggle in the inspector that allows me to control the depth of field? Still not seeing it.

Your suggestion "Always best to import with the phone hardwired to the computer" seems to work for me now. Instead of one clip I get a folder of multiple clips and the one without an "e" in the description is the the clip with the cinematic data.
