Sharpen & skin smooth techniques - Digital Anarchy? or just ColorFinale Pro?

I've read the FCP.CO article on the digital anarchy's sharpen and skin smoothing plugins . Those have been around for quite sometime and look like they work great. I'm about to pull the trigger, but then I realized that I have ColorFinale Pro.

I find that the sharpening in CFP is fantastic and does a great job from the stuff I've done with it thus far. Masking and sharpening is a breeze. I plan to use it to sharpen my subject in a project I'm working on currently. BUT, I also want to use a copy paste of the same mask in CFP to smooth their skin. (I know that CFP isn't a skin smoothing specific tool, but the sharpness sliders also goes the other way to soften stuff.)

Using logic to think this through, wouldn't I be cancelling out what I just did in the sharpening stage? If I were to purchase the Digital Anarchy plugins (Samurai & Beauty Box), wouldn't I be doing the same thing and cancelling? Or is that now how the plugins work?
