TOPIC:

How can I fade a track from opaque to transparent? 17 Sep 2021 07:31 #116286

I've added a track that contains text.

I want it to show for the first (roughly) 10 seconds of a video, and fade out.

At this point I'm not so much asking for instruction on how to do this.
I'd like pointers on what I need to read in order to figure this out.

What resources do I need to look at in order to figure out how to fade out a track?

The simplest way I think is to add a cross dissolve at the end.

You could read about opacity in the help guide. That’s the other too keyframe the opacity.

This observation has nothing directly to do with your question but offers guidance when making titles.

Is it really necessary for, say a three word title, to remain on screen for ten seconds? My viewpiont is editors often drag title sets on way too long. Eight words can be easily consumed in two seconds so anything longer usually interrupts the story. Something two paragraphs long could run maybe four seconds, considering most video can be paused if the viewer wants to seriously consume the content.

There may be stylistic reasons for holding titles an excessive amount but in most cases I'm scrubbing through them or berating the editor for wasting my time or insulting my literacy.
