Missing Pluggin Error 12 Sep 2021 17:40 #116213

I recently brought in some old projects that were started on 10.2 and now on 10.5. I get the missing pluggin error. I tried running XLC to see which pluggins were missing, but it only came up with fonts that were missing. I had a backup of the old program I used, I tried copying a couple of pluggins that were not in the new version over, but nothing changed. I am not too familar with pluggins and how to deal with them.

What is odd is that it is only on the GOPRO footage, all other footage seems to work fine. Is there a GOPRO pluggin or something? Any help appreciated, thanks.

It's the codec for the GpPro which is either missing or obsolete.

Got it. That makes sense. Should I just use compressor to convert the media into something different? And what codec should I use?

It looks like the original gopro media that the clips are using are .mov as well as the other clips that dont show "missing plugin".

.mov only means it is in a QuickTime wrapper, and could be any number of codecs and settings. Yes, I'd re-encode the problem clips to H.264 to make editing easier.

ok and I do that using compressor then and im good?

When I go to the clip in FCP and go to reveal in finder, I drag that file to compressor and it says it cant add it. Is that the correct file to convert?

You have to do that BEFORE you import into FCP.

Dang. I have ALOT of videos that have this issue that are mostly edited. Is there anyway around this? Am I able to download an older version of FCP just for these videos?
