auvaltool - tons of windows opening - anyway to prevent this?

Hi,

I have FCP X 10.4 on Catalina. When I launch FCP it takes a long time because I have a lot of AU audio plugins from Logic Pro and third parties. So in the MAC toolbar on the bottom of the screen I see a bunch of these 'exec' windows scrolling in and out of the toolbar. This makes FCP launching very slow, whereas Logic Pro launches rather quickly without this auvaltool windows nonsense.

Any ideas?

Auvaltool should run only once to evaluate audio plug-in compatibility, then not run again until something changes. This is very odd behavior. I have tons of 3rd party audio plugins (use Logic almost more than FCP now) and never see auvaltool.  Maybe try resetting FCP prefs?

Hi, in prefs I don't see anything to control this. I saw there was one plugin that was causing validation failure when in Logic, then removed the plugin, but in FCP I still see this behavior. Does FCP have an error or startup log somewhere where maybe I will see some details?

Hold both the Opt and Cmd keys together while launching FCP.

Wow, thanks, that worked! I wonder how to make that default. Is there a way to edit some file within the contents of the .app file so that the app launching is done via whatever flags Opt Cmd accomplishes?

Ya don't want to do that... Messing around inside the app bundle itself. Besides even if you were successful modifying it, EVERY TIME you launch FCP you'd have to reset your chosen preferences (background color, transition length, still image duration, copy images to library, default export, etc.) again. Chances are the FCP app would eventually brick and then you'd need to grab an unmodified version (you DO have one stashed somewhere don't you?) to complete the 3 hour edit you were given an hour to finish.
