File level differences between generators, titles and effects

I've gathered a lot of Motion content over the years and I am now cleaning it all. I also edit the <theme> tag inside the files and the file names to make them more recognisable and have them in the right folders. This is quite easy.

Another problem is that I do have titles in the effect folder, effects as titles and titles in generators. They do have the right extension (moti, motn, moef). I have the feeling that they cannot be renamed and moved to be an other thing (e.g. rename an effect from .moef to .moti and place it in the titles folder), but why? What makes an effect different than a generator or a title?

… What makes an effect different than a generator or a title?

for example, Titles/Generators appear as 'bars' in the projects timeline - effects not.
Effects affects the single clip/compound it is applied to - a Title (e.g. an Adjustment Layer) affects all clips 'underneath' it.

Apples naming scheme isn't a 100% conclusive, but I got used to it. btw: I wouldn't fumble with the internal tags......

That is indeed true. But then again, it is weird to have titles in the generator section and generators in the title section... :(After all those years, Motion content management is still messy.Usually editing the files is no problem. Sometimes the red missing thing icon is shown, which is odd. Why would adding or editing the theme-tag result in missing things.
