Ken Burns for Video - More Advanced FCP Options? was created by lucidcg
Can anyone recommend an FCP plug-in that allows for more granular options than the Ken Burns effect when using it on video (keyframing, multiple moves, etc.)?
Thank you.
Thank you.

you don’t need any plugin for that. Just copy and past the Ken Burns part (by cmd c / cmd v and ... invert the second ! It will « redo » the effects backward. So just give him a new destination.
If you wan’t to stay a while in the intermediate state just insert a freeze frame

Several developers offer third-party templates for various types of "camera moves" such as LenoFX (Camera Movements), MotionVFX (mCamRig), PremiumVFX (Camera Tools), and others. Or just keyframe your movements manually but unfortunately FCP's keyframing is really super limited.

FcpX for pan&scan suffers the same flaw that Fcp7 had. Bezier will never be the same for «Position » (movement) and resize. Therefore the way of enhancing Ken Burns as I indicated is the way to go. The only flaw is each time you modify it you will have to redo the intermediate frezze frame.
And you can go to Motion, Great tool for that. Beware, by default you will have the same problem than FcpX, But you can ease in/ease out all keyframes in the keyframe editor
Better ... Use a camera in Motion to pan&scan ! problem solved

Hi Stu,
I'm not clear on your suggestion to use freeze frames. I understand using that workaround for photos, are you suggesting using it with video?

when you use Ken Burns once you get to the end of clip with the effect on , it doesn’t stay on the last frame of the pan&scan but reads immediately the following clip. there is a trick ... park on that last frame and insert a freeze frame.
the same goes here
and yes, that’s for Pan&Scan on stills which is what “Ken Burns effect” is meant. You want to do it on video? Use a camera with “Apple Motion” Sofware.
